The Aim of the Czech Association of Scientific and Technical Societes

The Czech Association of Scientific and Technical Societies (CSVTS) was established in 1990 after the Czechoslovak Scientific and Technical Society was divided into two National Associations. Its activities have had a long-time tradition and its individual Societies were gradually being established as early as 19th century.

At present, the Czech Association is a voluntary organization of 69 independent scientific and technical Societies, each of them is an autonomous legal subject on the grounds of their own Statutes and management. There are altogether as much as 200.000 individual members and a great deal of collective members in the Societies. Besides professional engineering Societies as well as regional Societies have come into being.

Concrete activities of the Scientific and Technical Societies are particularly aimed at:
  • organizing and holding international conferences, seminars,etc.
  • organizing and holding educational and professional activities
  • presentation of firms (Logo) within the scope of the days of the professional branches and firms
  • arranging club activities for the scientific and engineering research workers
  • organizing thematic exhibition and fair tours
The Czech Association for the cause of its Members of the Scientific and Technical Societies, in particular:
  • substitutes agreed on common interests towards the third domestic and foreign subjects
  • manages a common trust property
  • quarantees or shares in preparing joint actions (congresses, conferences, etc.) agreed on conditions
  • provides services of the economic, juridical and technical character
  • publishes its review magazine "Zpravodaj CSVTS" in Czech.

The supreme body of the Association is a General Meeting of the CSVTS whose members are Chairpersons (Presidents) of all member organizations or their delegated representatives. The Association is a member of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI) and Regional Council of Coordination of Central and Eastern - European Engineering Organizations (RCC). Member organizations of the Association come into close contacts with foreign organizations and they are members of various international organizations.

The Czech Association of Scientific and Technical Societies publishes regularly its review "Zpravodaj CSVTS" (Review of CSVTS) that informs of internal affairs of the CSVTS. The Czech Association enables its member societies to express their opinions and atttitudes towards different sorts of technical and universal problems in its Review magazine. You can order the Review magazine "Zpravodaj CSVTS" at the address of CSVTS, Mgr. L. Vejmelkova, Novotneho lavka 5, 116 68 Praha 1 - Stare Mesto, Czech republic. One copy of the Review of CSVTS is distributed free for the purpose of advertising campaign, another copy is chargeable for 30 CZK (Czech korunas).

On the authority of the member organizations the Czech Association is the founder of the Houses of Technology that function as limited companies. The Houses of Technology are largely situated in modern premises and they have an extensive setting for providing teachings in technical and general education subjects but also for providing congresses, conferences and seminars. The Houses of Technology provide a demanding and needed education of foreign languages at present. Most of the Houses of Technology offer also exhibitors´ services, they are as well as equipped with printing technics and most of them have also the editing right for advertising and publicity work warranty. Its great significance consists in the club activity of the members of the Scientific and Technical Societies on the premises of the Houses of Technology or in their making use of entrepreneurial and guild organizations or of other persons showing interest in. The participants in their activities can take advantage of board provided in their own facilities of the House of Technology. The Houses of Technology are situated in towns of Plzen, Usti nad Labem, Pardubice, Ceské Budejovice, Brno, Kladno and Ostrava.

Some of the Houses of Technology have also educational and training centres at their disposal situated outside their headquarters which are provided with high-level lodging establishments. The premises can be used both for giving courses and training lasting more days and for hotel accommodation in the fixed term.
